Summer Camps

This summer, the Powell Makerspace is offering four summer camps for students in the 6-8th grade level in partnership with the Powell Recreation District.  In order to register for any of the classes below visit the Rec Distric’s website at!

Astronomy Summer Camp

Explore the night sky at the Powell MakerSpace! Learn all about constellations and planets, including some of the history and thn venture into the science of astronomy and astrophysics!  Weather permitting, there will be an optional star gazing night during the week.

June 4th – 8th, 10am – 12pm

Hands-On Science

Explore optics, fluid flow, gas laws, and more in this week of hands-on science!  Build the experiment take measurements, and draw conclusions, all to better understand the world around you.

Want to build a robot to clean your room or wash the dishes? Use Lego robotics kits and some creativity to build and program robots to solve challenges.  This camp will explore basic programming, teamwork, and engineering.

July 9th – 13th, 10am – 12pm

Computer Programming

Have you ever wanted to make your own video game?  How about controlling a robot?  Or what about making a computer do your homework for you?  Do all of these and more as you learn the basics of computer programming.
